Monarchs will conclude 2026 grid season Friday at Hilliard Darby

Marysville’s varsity football team will close out the 2026 regular season by traveling to Hilliard Darby on Friday. The Panthers will line up in the Wing T and use a power running game. “They want to run the football about 80% of the time,” said MHS head coach Mike Young. Hilliard Darby’s top offensive threat is Cedric Holman. “He will run with the football, but is also a good receiver,” said Young. “They will use multiple ways to get the football to him.” Kohen Kornegay is labeled a solid tailback by Young who can also tack on a good deal of yardage. “We will have to know where Holman is at all times,” said the Marysville head coach. “He has game-changing speed and we can’t handle him one-on-one… we will have to try and bracket him with defenders. “Our defensive unit will have to play with the same type of physicality that Hilliard Darby plays and we will have to be gap sound.” The Panthers (5-4) will line up in a 4-3 defensive front, but will also use an odd-man front based on down and distance. “Hilliard Darby’s defensive unit plays a physical game and they are fast,” said Young....
